- 2025 Tokyo Disneyland Adventure with Top 10 Must-Experience Attractions!
My husband and I had the opportunity to visit Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea in February 2025. This trip was more than just a visit to Disneyland; it also marked the beginning of our Asian Disney adventure, inspired by our dream of visiting every Disney park in the world. This visit was especially significant for me because it was my first time back in Japan since I was an exchange student in Okinawa in 2001. Park 9 of 12 on our list to visit all the parks in the world. Let me share with you our top 10 experiences: 1. **The Happy Ride with Baymax** Based on the popular film *Big Hero 6*, this delightful attraction features upbeat music and vibrant visuals. You will find people just standing around the ride to dance and sing along; they call it Club Baymax. 2. **The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast** This attraction tells the story of Belle and the Beast through stunning visuals and lifelike animatronics. Each scene is meticulously crafted to showcase beautiful storytelling, making it a must-visit at this park. The transformation scene was phenomenal, and I found myself wanting to sing along during the entire ride. This queue is also so fun. 3. **Pooh’s Hunny Hunt** This innovative ride uses a unique trackless system, allowing for a different experience every time you ride. I love that this ride includes more of the Hundred Acre friends than other parks. This is hands down my favorite version of this ride in all the parks. 4. **Ride the Disney Resort Line** This monorail journey offers panoramic views of the park and is adorned with charming Disney details. It conveniently connects to Tokyo DisneySea, the train station, and several hotels. It costs just a few dollars for a daily ticket, or you can buy a multiple-day pass and save a little. 5. **Country Bear Jamboree** This nostalgic show features animatronic bears performing catchy songs. We found ourselves laughing and tapping our feet along with the tunes. My husband, who does not remember it from when it was in Disneyland in California, wanted to see this show twice during our two days at Tokyo Disneyland. 6. **It’s a Small World with Groot** Tokyo's overlay version introduces Groot and his Marvel friends alongside the classic ride. The colorful scenes depict children from different cultures, and it is fun to try and find Groot and his friends mixed in. 7. **Mickey’s Magical Music World** The musical show *Mickey’s Magical Music World* captivated us completely. The performers' high-energy dance moves and vibrant costumes made it feel like a Broadway production. 8. **Reach for the Stars Nighttime Show** Fireworks lit up the sky to a catchy soundtrack, and the castle was beautifully illuminated with projection displays. It was the perfect finale to our first day at Tokyo Disneyland. 9. **Electrical Parade Dreamlights** This enchanting parade featured stunning floats and beloved Disney characters, all aglow as they passed by. It was a high-energy parade that I adored. **Food** Our favorite bites at Tokyo Disneyland: Alien Mochi ($3.75) at Plazma Ray;s Diner Popcorn (so many flavors) (2.50) Baymax Curry ($13) and Steak Plate ($20) at Center Street Coffeehouse (make reservations) Katsu Curry at Hungry Bear Restaurant ($8) Mickey hand bun sandwich from Huey. Dewey and Louie's ($5) Donald bun fried fish from Huey, Dewey, and Louie's ($5) We did take advantage of mobile order and found it very easy to use. We booked a Disney Vacation Package (DVP) and that made it easy to secure dining reservations at the popular restaurants before our visit. The Baymax curry is very popular, so grab a reservation at Center Street Coffeehouse to avoid a long wait. With the DVP package, we also got unlimited drinks at counter service locations. You didn't even have to wait in line to get them, you just walked to the mobile order pickup counter and showed them your drink coupon, order, and get your beverage. Our trip to Tokyo Disneyland was filled with endless enjoyment. The park truly embodies the timeless happiness that Disney promises. With thrilling rides, enchanting shows, and delightful food, it's easy to see why so many people love this destination. Additionally, the Japanese parks are the most affordable among all Disney locations worldwide when it comes to tickets, food, and merchandise. Tickets range from $54 to $75 per adult for a one-day visit, and Disney ears are priced at just $9 to $12! If you haven't yet visited Tokyo Disneyland, I encourage you to make it a priority on your travel list and contact me to help you have the trip of a lifetime. You'll create unforgettable memories, just as we did while experiencing the magic that only Disney can provide. With this park checked off our list, we headed to Tokyo DisneySea for our next adventure. See the reel on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/DG_UKnhy5FT/ Ready for your Tokyo Disneyland trip?
- Trending Summer Travel Destinations
Image courtesy of Jérome Galland for La Fantaisie Summer is almost here, which means it’s time to start planning. You can never be too early when it comes to summer travel, as everyone’s ready for a much-needed escape. Tried-and-true favorites — Paris, London, et. al. — are trending this summer, but I’ve also seen some under-the-radar newcomers swiftly move up the ranks. Regardless of where you want to go, though, I can make magic happen. Here’s where to go to stay on top of the trends, and where to go to start some new ones. Trending destinations to book now This summer, travelers are heading to these top five cities: Paris, London, Rome, Athens and Florence. And it’s easy to see why. Each locale has its distinct personality, a rich mix of culture, history and cuisine. Expect crowds, but the throngs are worth it. Even better, I'll help you get off the beaten path and discover gems beyond the tourist traps. I help you travel like an insider. Paris Image courtesy of La Fantaisie Paris Paris is the perfect city to enjoy longer days and more sunlight. Al fresco aperitifs and picnics by the Seine, or near Canal Saint Martin, are in order. Wander around the city’s gardens — the Jardin du Luxembourg is a favorite, with its manicured greenery and youthful locals enjoying a baguette or reading a book by the fountain. And don’t miss its many parks, like Parc Montsouris, a lovely, leafy escape in the 14th, filled with locals jogging, celebrating birthdays, or relaxing on picnic blankets. La Fantaisie: This charming, ever-chic hotel feels like a beautiful dollhouse, with its patterned wallpaper, pastel hues, feminine forms, and florals. You’ll love the hyperlocal neighborhood and warm, attentive service. The hotel feels like Paris’ best-kept (and effortlessly cool) secret. Fora Reserve perks include €100 food and beverage or spa credit, a welcome bottle of Champagne, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out for stays of at least two nights. Le Bristol : Few Parisian hotels are as iconic as Le Bristol, which celebrates its centenary this year. It’s classic and elegant, with an exquisite garden and a can’t-miss rooftop pool. Fora’s Oetker Pearl partner perks include €100 food and beverage or spa credit, breakfast daily, access to the best room in the requisite category, and priority access to a courtesy car. London Image courtesy of Broadwick Soho This summer, London’s calling. The city’s energy is always high, but especially in the warmer months when locals can be found lunching in pocket gardens, savoring midday ice cream, and enjoying a pint (or two) at a quaint pub on a cobblestoned street. The city is also a jumping-off point for exploring England’s countryside. It’s the perfect setting for an active vacation, whether you want to hike amid the Cotswolds or bike around the Yorkshire Dales. Regardless, I'll design a personalized itinerary for you and your companions. Broadwick Soho : Embrace this buzzy boutique hotel’s posh whimsy, playful spirit, and see-and-be-seen (in a fun way) vibe. Fora Reserve perks include £20 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible. 1 Hotel Mayfair : The eco-chic brand’s London outpost is complete with leafy interiors, natural stone, sustainable cuisine and all the wellness you could want. Fora Reserve perks include a $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, breakfast daily, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible. Rome Image courtesy of Stephen Julliard for Casa Monti Rome is consistently one of our top-booked cities, and for good reason. Whether you want to sample authentic Roman cuisine in Testaccio, the city’s food district, visit historical sites in Centro Storico, or café-hop in the trendy Monti neighborhood, Rome delivers. Use the city as an entry point for exploring the rest of the country, from Tuscany to Como. Casa Monti Roma : From the same team behind La Fantaisie, Casa Monti is equally whimsical and delightful. It has a lovely local feel, a vibrant personality (they’ve mastered the art of wallpaper), and a legendary rooftop bar. Fora Reserve perks include €100 hotel credit for 2+ nights, a welcome bottle of Champagne, breakfast daily, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible. Hotel de Russie, A Rocco Forte Hotel : You’ll love the rooftop, cocktails, and gorgeous garden, one of the city’s buzziest addresses. When you book Rocco Forte with me, you will enjoy exclusive Rocco Forte Knights amenities. Athens Image courtesy of A77 Suites In many ways, Athens was built for summer. Fresh hummus and tzatziki somehow taste better in local, open-air tavernas, whose shaded terraces overlook the winding, narrow streets below. Even the upscale restaurants transform outdoor courtyards into elegant, perfectly lit evening dining venues. Athens is also an excellent starting point for a cruise. Spend a few days in the ancient capital, then explore the Mediterranean (or beyond) in style. A77 Suites : Perfect for a boutique moment in Athens’ Plaka neighborhood, where art-filled, airy suites and in-room fashion styling (if you so desire) await. Fora Reserve perks include €50 hotel/resort credit, a welcome drink, a boutique discount, breakfast daily, an upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible. Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens : Although it’s a bit outside of the city, it’s worth the slight detour. The Athenian Riviera is the place to be this summer. You’ll get the best of beach, history and culture. When you book Four Seasons with me, you will enjoy exclusive Four Seasons Preferred Partner amenities. Florence Image courtesy of The Place Firenze Florence, the Renaissance’s birthplace, is brimming with art and culture. Architecture lovers will be especially happy here. The Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral’s famed Duomo is but one of the marvels you’ll encounter here. And with more daylight, you’ll have more time to explore the city’s impressive array of museums, food markets, and gardens. The Place Firenze: The hotel is effortlessly elegant, a true paean to Italian craftsmanship. (They even have a scholarship that sponsors Italian artisans to learn traditional fields like porcelain production, glass etching, cashmere, and silversmithing.) Fora Reserve perks include a $100 food/beverage credit, welcome amenities, daily breakfast, access to Florence Fitness Gym, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible. Hotel La Gemma : This boutique hotel is bedecked in handsome emerald accents. It exhibits the kind of intimacy only a family-owned hotel can master. You’ll love its serene vibe and keen eye for design. Fora Reserve perks include €85 hotel credit, complimentary minibar soft drinks, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible. Under-the-radar destinations to book now Classic destinations (like the above) are classic for a reason. But several other spots around the world merit a shoutout. A few locales in particular caught my eye. Here’s where to go this summer to get off the beaten path, if only slightly. Kenya Image courtesy of Angama Mara A safari here is a no-brainer, but there is so much more to the country than its glorious flora and fauna. The safari lodges you stay at will depend on where you want to go and what you want to see, but Fora's partner Rolodex in this department is robust. I'll point you in the right direction and align lodging with your goals. Singapore Images courtesy of Capella Singapore Apart from being exceptionally modern and innovative, Singapore is also one of the world’s most accessible destinations. But Singapore’s food also stands out. You'll love the country’s famed Hawker Centres, open-air, impeccably organized food courts serving everything from Indian to Malay to Chinese fare and more. COMO Metropolitan Singapore: This refined, urban retreat is also a foodie’s dream, with a fancy pâtisserie and outpost of the Michelin-Starred COTE Korean steakhouse. Fora Reserve perks include a welcome amenity, daily breakfast, priority dining access at Cote-Cedric Grolet and Como Cuisine, and preferred rates at Club 21 Orchard. Capella Singapore: The Foster + Partners-designed getaway sits on Sentosa Island, a leafy peninsula just off the main city. Fora Reserve perks at Capella Singapore include a $100 hotel credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible. Dublin Image courtesy of Dylan Dublin Dublin in the summer is magical. It’s no wonder the Irish capital is among Fora's 10 top-booked destinations this summer. Expect leafy gardens and squares, lively pubs, pervasive wit, and a rich literary heritage. The city is also the perfect jumping-off point to explore the rest of the country — manor-laden pastures, coastal foodie cities, charming villages, and world-class golf resorts. Dylan Dublin: This gem is housed within a regal red-brick building from the early 1900s. Fora Reserve perks at the Dylan Dublin include a $100 food and beverage credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible. Conrad Dublin : This is where the brand’s modern aesthetic meets Irish warmth, right off St. Stephen’s Green. Fora’s Hilton for Luxury partner perks at the Conrad Dublin include a $100 hotel credit, daily breakfast, and an upgrade whenever possible. Bonus: Seattle Image courtesy of Palihotel Seattle If a far-flung vacation isn’t in the books this summer, consider Seattle, which is swiftly moving up the ranks as one of Fora's top-booked domestic cities this summer. The Pacific Northwestern gem is especially ideal for solo travel, one of the trends of 2025. The city is laid-back, compact, and brimming with things to do, from brewery tours and market visits to museum immersion and hikes. And the food scene does not disappoint. Palihotel Seattle: Stay here for a youthful, hip boutique stay steps from Pike Place. Expect vibrant colors, tasteful wallpaper, and retro vibes. Fora Perks at Palihotel Seattle include a welcome amenity, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible. Thompson Seattle: You’ll love the strong community vibe at this sleek local hangout. Don’t miss a rooftop cocktail or a drink at the handsome, speakeasy-esque Zig Zag Café. Fora’s Hyatt Privé perks at the Thompson Seattle include a $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast, an upgrade, and early check-in whenever possible.

- Guide to Hawaiʻi
Image courtesy of 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay Hawaiʻi doesn’t seem like it should be in the United States. The tropical archipelago in the South Pacific is a veritable paradise, a geological marvel brimming with greenery and wildlife. Hawaiʻi consists of six major islands — Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokai, Lānaʻi, Maui and the The Island of Hawaiʻi (also called The Big Island) — plus several smaller islands and atolls. The islands themselves are the result of volcanic activity in the middle of one of Earth’s tectonic plates. In fact, the Big Island is still technically being formed, in a way, by its active volcanoes, Mauna Loa and Kīlauea. A little over 20 miles southeast of the archipelago is the Kamaʻehuakanaloa Seamount, an active underwater volcano that may one day become Hawaiʻi’s newest island. Here is where to go for a mix of everything: lounge the day away on the beach, embark on satisfyingly grueling hikes, explore laid-back towns, golf, snorkel, eat outstanding food, connect with the local culture…Hawaiʻi offers something for everyone. Below is a collection of recommendations for where to stay, what to do and where to eat on Hawaiʻi’s five habitable islands — the Big Island, Oʻahu, Lānaʻi, Kauaʻi and Maui. This is just a sampling, of course — a little travel inspiration — as Hawaiʻi’s options abound. You won’t be at a loss for things to enjoy. When you connect with me, I’ll design a dream itinerary tailored to you and your travel style. I’ll get an understanding of your vibe and preferences, and then craft your perfect vacation. Tap into the aloha spirit: Hawaiʻi is calling. What to know about Hawai'i: Currency : $, US dollar (USD) Languages : ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi & English Airports : Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, Oʻahu (HNL); Kahului Airport, Maui (OGG); Kona International Airport, Big Island (KOA); Hilo International Airport, Big Island (ITO); Lihue Airport, Kauaʻi (LIH) (most travelers will likely fly into HNL, and then board another flight to reach their final destination) Transportation : If you want to explore beyond your resort (highly recommend), then renting a car is a great idea, especially if several hiking routes have caught your eye. Taxi services, as well as ride-sharing services (Uber, Lyft) are also available. Best time to visit : There’s no bad time to visit; it really depends on what you’re after. January through March is best for whale watching, while the winter months are best for big-wave surfing. September will see fewer crowds, with June, July, August and December being the busiest months to visit. (Unsurprisingly, the summer months tend to have the best weather, with the least rainfall.) Ideal length of stay : Again, the best vacation length will depend entirely on what you’d like to do (or not do). On balance, five to 10 days is ideal, although shorter and longer trips can be just as doable — and enjoyable. Signature dishes : shave ice, poke, saimin (noodle soup), laulau (taro-leaf-wrapped pork cooked in an underground oven), malasadas (Portuguese doughnuts) Key phrases : aloha (hello/goodbye), mahalo (thank you), e kala mai (excuse me), e ʻoluʻolu ʻoe (please, eh oh-loo-oh-loo oh-eh ), ʻohana (family), moana (ocean) Dress code : your favorite swimsuit paired with comfy shorts, flowy pants or a dress — and don’t forget a hat and sunnies. For breezy nights, especially in the cooler nights, it doesn't hurt to pack a sweater. The Island of Hawai’i (The Big Island) The Island of Hawaiʻi (also known as The Big Island) is one of the best Hawaiʻian islands for families (especially the Kona side, with its calm waters, coffee farms and wide selection of restaurants and cultural landmarks). There’s a lot to do here, including hiking, snorkeling, exploring active volcanoes in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park (a must) , scenic helicopter rides, stargazing on Mauna Kea and so much more. Hawaiʻi is very spiritual as well, and the island’s properties preserve its heritage with strong programming intended to keep its culture alive. Image courtesy of Mauna Lani Where to stay on the Island of Hawai'i (The Big Island) Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection : A luxurious (and very family-friendly) oasis that honors the land’s historical roots. Book with me to receive $100 hotel / resort credit, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection : The white-sand Kauna’oa Bay is home to this resort, complete with a championship golf course and other top-tier amenities. Please note that as of February 2024, the property is currently undergoing a renovation. Fora’s VIP partner perks include $100 resort credit, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. What to do on the Island of Hawai'i (The Big Island) The Island of Hawaiʻi is a nature-lover’s paradise. Hike to a solidified lava bed in the Kīlauea Iki Crater, located in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, or explore the biodiverse Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary on Mt. Hualālai. View the island’s several volcanoes from above, via helicopter, including Kīlauea, the most active. Snorkel with majestic manta rays at night, and during the day, don’t miss Papakōlea Beach and its distinctive green sand. Where to eat on the Island of Hawai'i (The Big Island) CanoeHouse, at Mauna Lani, is arguably one of the island’s best restaurants, serving a Japanese-inflected menu highlighting the finest local ingredients. The Four Season’s Ulu Ocean Grill, too, is perfect for an oceanfront fine-dining moment. Also a must is Kona Brewing Company , where locally brewed (and consciously made) beer is paired with good vibes and hearty fare (pizza, burgers, tacos, pupu). For the best shave ice, the legendary Hawaiʻian dessert, head to Anuenue Ice Cream & Shave Ice, or to Kula Shave Ice , which makes their own syrups using organic, locally sourced fruit. For more sweetness, you can’t go wrong with Punalu’u Bake Shop , where the malasadas, yeasted doughnuts dusted with sugar and often filled with various flavors (Punalu’u’s flavors include guava, lilikoi, taro-mango and several others), are mandatory. The Island of Hawaiʻi's poke game is strong, too. Two favorites are Da Poke Shack , a lively hole in the wall with the freshest seafood, plus vegetarian options, and Suisan , a fish market that happens to serve some of the best poke bowls around. Oʻahu & Lānaʻi Oʻahu is Hawaiʻi’s most commercialized island (it’s home to the state’s capital, Honolulu), but it’s still very much worth visiting. It’s the best island for surfing: the North Shore is legendary for its big-wave surfing, and is home to the famous Banzai Pipeline, which attracts the world's best (and bravest) surfers. It’s also amazing for first-time visitors, families and those with limited time. You can visit two spots on Oʻahu and feel like you’ve hit two islands: stay a couple of nights in Waikiki and then jet up to the North Shore; you’ll get a taste of everything the island has to offer. Lānaʻi is quiet, small and blissfully free from crowds. It houses a couple luxury resorts, and is mostly owned by Larry Ellison, the co-founder of Oracle. Image courtesy of Turtle Bay Resort Where to stay on Oʻahu & Lana’i Turtle Bay Resort : A supremely located (especially for surfers) and secluded five-star stay on Oʻahu's North Shore. Turtle Bay Resort also just went through a multi-million dollar renovation. It is famous for being featured in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Four Seasons Resort Oʻahu At Ko Olina : A western Oʻahu retreat perfect for families, golfers, wellness enthusiasts and adventurers alike. Fora’s VIP partner perks include $100 resort credit, a welcome amenity, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. Image courtesy of Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort Four Seasons Resort Lānaʻi : Ultra-private and tranquil, with five-star dining, golf, wellness treatments and more. When you book Four Seasons through me, you’ll enjoy exclusive Four Seasons Preferred Partner amenities. I’ll be pleased to give you more details. Sensei Lānaʻi, A Four Seasons Resort : A luxurious wellness retreat, with a Japanese-inspired spa and dining courtesy of Nobu. When you book Four Seasons through me, you’ll enjoy exclusive Four Seasons Preferred Partner amenities. I’ll be pleased to give you more details. What to do on Oʻahu & Lānaʻi Hike up to Maunawili Falls, a beautiful reward following a medium-grade trek through lush rainforest. Explore the 400 acres of the Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden, where a diverse array of flora is organized based on geography. On Lānaʻi, the tiny Lānaʻi City is particularly charming. Browse the local shops, peruse the local art displayed at the Lānaʻi Art Center and play with rescued cats at the Lāna‘i Cat Sanctuary . Where to eat on Oʻahu & Lānaʻi Sunrise Shack is the place to go on Oʻahu for açai bowls and smoothies (there are multiple locations). The Pig and the Lady is a hip Vietnamese spot in Honolulu's Chinatown, while ARVO , also in Honolulu, is a vibrant, chic café serving nourishing cuisine with a hint of California vibes. On Lānaʻi, the Four Seasons Resort Lanai knocks it out of the park, with expertly crafted Japanese fare at Nobu Lanai, as well as locally sourced deliciousness at the poolside Malibu Farm. Kauaʻi Kauaʻi is aptly referred to as the Garden Isle; indeed, most of the island is covered by rainforest (Kauaʻi is also Hawaiʻi’s geographically oldest island). Consequently, there is not as much infrastructure here, resulting in a more laid-back, down-to-earth vibe compared to some of the more populated islands. Nature lovers will rejoice at Kauaʻi's rugged cliffs, white-sand beaches, challenging hiking trails, stunning waterfalls and overall natural splendor. Mount Waialeale, in the island’s center, is nearly a mile high, and is one of the wettest places on Earth. Images courtesy of 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay Where to stay on Kauaʻi 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay : A gorgeous, relatively new contender to the hotel scene (it opened in 2023), 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay is an eco-chic property with farm-to-table food, sustainable practices and a focus on wellness. If you want to get closer to the whales (and see an epic view of the Nāpali coast), make sure to book a tour with the Native-owned Makana Charters . Makauwahi Cave, Hawaiʻi’s largest limestone cave, is a unique attraction filled with fossils, and the breathtaking cliffs of Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park are a sight to behold from various vantage points. If you want to get an intimate view of the Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park, make sure to take a hike. Plan to spend at least a day for the hike; reservations should be made in advance and book up quickly. Where to eat on Kauaʻi Head to the breezy Kauaʻi Juice Co. for locally sourced smoothie bowls, soups, salads, juices and house-made nut milks. Additional locally sourced, nourishing fare (ahi poke, multi-hued salads) can be savored at Living Foods , as well as at 1 Kitchen, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay’s signature restaurant, whose wine list champions organic and biodynamic producers. You can’t go wrong with any of the food trucks at the chic Warehouse 3540 , where local artisans display their wares, or with Hanalei Bread Company , an organic café and bakery that sources its produce from its own organic farm. And the patio at AMA is a delightful spot to enjoy ramen and other Asian dishes made with — what else? — locally sourced ingredients. Make sure to make a reservation in advance. Maui Maui has always been popular, but now it’s as busy as ever, courtesy of season two of The White Lotus, which was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. Expect lots of fellow visitors, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have an amazing vacation. There are several areas of the island to explore. A top recommendation is Haleakalā, a nearly two-mile-high dormant volcano that beckons hikers, bikers, horseback riders and stargazers. In 2023, fires devastated the town of Lahaina, on Maui’s northwest coast. The town is still re-building, and now it’s as important as ever to support the area’s local businesses. When you book Four Seasons through me, you’ll enjoy exclusive Four Seasons Preferred Partner amenities. I’ll be pleased to give you more details. Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui : This ultra-family-friendly resort has just been treated to an extensive renovation; expect an open-air lobby, redesigned rooms and suites, a new cultural center and more. Montage Kapalua Bay : A sophisticated stay with residential-style suites, where everything is a celebration of Maui’s local culture. Book with me to snag $150 spa credit, $35 daily breakfast credit for two, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. What to do on Maui The famed Road to Hana is among the most scenic drives you’ll experience (although inexperienced drivers will want to enlist the help of someone comfortable with hairpin turns, narrow stretches and other tricky obstacles). Make sure to allow time for several stops to take in the stunning scenery (waterfalls, rainforests) along the way. Along the trail is the black-sand Pa‘iloa Beach, located within the beautiful, biodiverse Waiʻānapana State Park (reservations are required here). Off of Wailea Beach, you’ll find Molikini, a sunken crater that makes for great snorkeling. Explore the local shops and restaurants in Pā'ia, a charming town on Maui’s North Shore, and, as mentioned, don’t miss a hike or bike ride on Haleakalā (Haleakalā National Park boasts five different climate zones!). Where to eat on Maui Mama’s Fish House , in Pā'ia, is a fun (and very popular) local haunt with tight connections to local fisherman and farmers. In Wailea, Monkeypod Kitchen champions locally sourced, organic ingredients, served in a chic laid-back setting. In Lahaina, I love Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop for homemade comfort food. Ka’ana Kitchen, at the Andaz, serves a curated menu of farm-to-table, Japanese-inspired fare in a stylish open-air space. And don’t miss a meal at Ferraro’s Restaurant & Bar, at the Four Seasons, where expertly crafted coastal Italian cuisine is paired with ocean views and, oftentimes, soothing live music. This may be information overload, but that's where I come in. Above is just a taste of all that Hawaiʻi offers. Connect with me for a tailored trip. I'll work to understand your vibe and what you're after, and design your dream Hawaiʻian getaway, complete with VIP perks and priority status at the state's best hotels.
- Tokyo DisneySea: Why It's the Most Magical Disney Park
Have you ever wondered if there was a theme park experience that feels entirely unique? If so, Tokyo DisneySea is the place to be. Adjacent to Tokyo Disneyland, this enchanting park boasts breathtaking views, one-of-a-kind attractions, and a whimsical atmosphere that will leave you thinking this may be the best Disney Park in the world. My recent trip included a stay at the stunning Fantasy Springs Hotel, and I want to share the top highlights that made our visit unforgettable. Park 10 of 12 on our list to visit all the parks in the world. 1. Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival One of the most beautiful rides in the new land expansion, Fantasy Springs, was the enchanting Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival boat ride. As we journeyed through the attraction outside, the details were perfect and entertaining. Once the boat entered the inside, hundreds of lanterns floated into the night sky, creating a beautiful fairytale-like atmosphere. This is one of the prettiest scenes from any Disney ride. 2. Dining at Magellan’s Magellan’s is widely recognized as one of the most unique and immersive dining experiences at Disney parks worldwide. Located in Tokyo DisneySea, this elegant restaurant not only offers world-class cuisine but also pays tribute to the rich history and spirit of exploration embodied by the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (SEA). This fine dining experience was worth every penny. Reservations are a must! 3. Journey to the Center of the Earth The exhilarating Journey to the Center of the Earth ride was an absolute highlight. We boarded a unique mining vehicle and descended into a fantastical underground world filled with magnificent creatures and awe-inspiring landscapes. If you seek thrills, this is a ride you cannot skip! 4. Fortress Explorations Fortress Explorations is a hidden gem within the park. This interactive area felt like entering a grand expedition, complete with towering castles and engaging exhibits. As we explored the fortress, we discovered numerous artifacts and secret passages that brought history to life. We easily could have spent a few hours completing this scavenger hunt. 5. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Another standout attraction was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. This ride blended captivating visuals with state-of-the-art technology. As we descended into the depths, we encountered incredible marine life and thrilling adventures that kept us entertained. 6. Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey This musical ride captures the essence of the beloved film, showcasing cherished characters, catchy tunes, and vibrant scenes from Arendelle. It’s perfect for guests of all ages to enjoy singing along as they journey through this enchanting world. In my opinion, this brand-new ride is the best version compared to those at Hong Kong, Walt Disney World, and Tokyo. 7. Venetian Gondolas One of the most romantic experiences at Tokyo DisneySea is the serene Venetian Gondola ride. We glided along peaceful waters while taking in the captivating views of the park. The gondoliers entertained us with stories of the park. This tranquil ride was an excellent way to relax and enjoy the park's beauty. 8. Aquatopia Aquatopia offered a delightful mix of whimsy and fun. This unique water ride guided us over the water while maneuvering around splashes, twisting around waterfalls, and spinning past fountains. 9. Raging Spirits For thrill-seekers, the Raging Spirits roller coaster delivers a quick adrenaline rush. With its stunning loop and high-speed twists, it promises excitement from start to finish. I enjoyed the use of smoke and fire on this outdoor ride. 10. DisneySea Transit Steamer Line Taking the DisneySea Transit Steamer Line was a delightful way to enjoy the stunning scenery throughout the park since DisneySea is all about the waterways. As we floated along the waterfront, we admired the beautifully crafted attractions that make DisneySea unique. This leisurely ride was a perfect break between attractions, allowing us to soak in the artistic design of the park. 11. Sea of Dreams As darkness falls, the space transforms into a vibrant canvas of lights and colors. The stunning effects synchronize beautifully with the enchanting music. Spectacular storytelling unfolds, drawing viewers into a magical realm where dreams come to life. We booked a DPA for this show and had the most amazing seats. 12. Food Our favorite bites at Tokyo DisneySea: Shrimp Bun Popcorn (so many flavors) (2.50) Magellans for Fine Dining (make a reservation) Gyoza Dog The Snuggly Duckling SeaShell Carmel Ice Cream We did take advantage of mobile order and found it very easy to use. We booked a Disney Vacation Package (DVP) and that made it easy to secure dining reservations at the popular restaurants before our visit. Unforgettable Experiences Await Tokyo DisneySea is undeniably a remarkable destination that surpasses typical Disney parks. With its breathtaking views, unique rides, and rich experiences, it offers a magical escape that truly feels special. Our stay at Fantasy Springs Hotel, along with these unforgettable attractions, was worth every penny and made for an extraordinary adventure. This is officially my favorite Disney Park in the world. Additionally, the Japanese parks are the most affordable among all Disney locations worldwide when it comes to tickets, food, and merchandise. Tickets range from $54 to $75 per adult for a one-day visit, and Disney ears are priced at just $9 to $12! If you find yourself in Tokyo, ensure you set aside time for this gem. Whether you are a Disney fan or just looking for a fantastical getaway, Tokyo DisneySea is an experience you won't forget! Ready for your own Tokyo Disney adventure? Want to see more? - Travel to Tokyo, Japan
Image courtesy of Aman Tokyo Japan takes everything to an entirely new level. It takes good things — sushi, art, design, pizza, hospitality, coffee, shopping — and makes them great. Even the country’s 7/11’s are immaculate, and make perfect settings for a quick, gourmet meal — not an oxymoron. Japan has always been popular, and in the last couple years, the country has been incubating. A slate of new luxury hotels and developments has popped up in Tokyo, in particular. While foreigners were temporarily denied entry, the city kept getting better and better (as if Tokyo weren’t an incredible destination already). Meander around the city’s numerous parks (Imperial Palace Park is particularly inviting), partake in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, sample the city’s slew of exceptional dining outlets — from holes-in-the-wall to Michelin-Starred destination restaurants — and peruse its eclectic selection of boutiques, department stores, shopping arcades and megastores. Tokyo is where you can experience something unlike you’ve ever had, where you’ll feel like a fish out of water — all while being extremely safe. Its uniqueness, energy, predilection for optimization and technological innovation never fail to captivate. There’s a reason the country tops many a bucket list. Below is just an introduction to some of my favorite Tokyo neighborhoods, each of which has its own distinct personality. Of course, when you connect with me, we’ll work together to design your dream trip. Plus, I’ll unlock VIP perks at the city’s best hotels. And when it comes to hospitality, the Japanese more than deliver. Ready for the trip of a lifetime? Connect with me, and I'll design your dream Tokyo vacation. What to know about Tokyo, Japan: Currency : ¥, Japanese yen (JPY) Language : Japanese Airports : Haneda Airport (HND), Narita International Airport (NRT) Public transportation : exquisite, clean and highly efficient; there are both above-ground (Japan Rail East) and underground (the Tokyo Metro, Toei Transportation) options Private transportation : there are plenty of taxis in Tokyo, many with English signage, but the public transportation cannot be beat, and comes highly recommended Best time to visit : late March through early April for the cherry blossoms (if you don’t mind the crowds), and September through November for crisp autumnal weather (a fair warning: autumn is also typhoon season, so expect the occasional downpour) Ideal length of stay : 5-7 days is ideal to get a thorough taste of all Tokyo offers, but if the city is one stop on a longer Japan trip, you can get by with three solid days Signature dishes : sushi & sashimi, yaki-tori (grilled chicken or veggie skewers), ramen, tempura, tonkatsu (breaded and deep-fried pork), shabu-shabu (beef hot pot) Key phrases : konnichiwa ( kohn-nee-chee-wah, hello), arigatou gozaimasu ( ah-ree-gah-toh goh-zah-ee-mahs , thank you), sumimasen ( soo-mee-mah-sen , excuse me/pardon me), kudasai ( koo-dah-sigh , please) Dress code : light layers, fashionable tennies & and your favorite statement piece Shibuya & Shinjuku No trip to Tokyo would be complete without visiting the energetic, bustling, efficiently hectic Shibuya and Shinjuku neighborhoods. The former is home to Shibuya Scramble Crossing, the city’s busiest intersection and a bucket-list tourist experience worth the photo op. Shibuya is also very artistic and hip. It caters to a young, fashion-forward crowd and is filled with delicious, inexpensive places to eat, plus lots of charming record shops and small movie theaters. The skyscraper-filled Shinjuku becomes a neon nightlife hotspot at night. Its numerous ramen shops and welcoming izakaya (Japanese pubs) will keep you going. Plus, Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district is prime for bar-hopping and late-night adventures. Images courtesy of Park Hyatt Tokyo Where to stay in Shibuya & Shinjuku Park Hyatt Tokyo : Serene elegance in Tokyo’s urban center. Book with me to receive VIP Hyatt Privé perks, including $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast for two, an upgrade & extended check-in/out. Connect with me to see how I can level up your stay. Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo : A tasteful, vibrant stay with a top-tier concierge, an approachable price point and a deep connection to its energetic locale. Even better, I'll get you exclusive perks like $100 hotel credit, welcome amenities, daily breakfast for two, an upgrade & late check-out. What to do in Shibuya & Shinjuku Take in the panoramic city views from one of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office Building ’s free observation decks. Meander around the various types of gardens in the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden , among the city’s largest parks. Where to eat in Shibuya & Shinjuku Grab a coffee at the hip About Life Coffee Brewers, a small but mighty neighborhood hotspot, or at Fuglen , where Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics combine to glorious effect. For a three-Michelin-Starred bucket-list kaiseki experience (a traditional multi-course meal), head to Kagurazaka Ishikawa , where the finest ingredients take center stage. Expect masterful presentations of seafood, rice and locally sourced vegetables. For something super casual (and super delicious), opt for the homemade udon noodles at the teensy Udon Shin . You can choose from both cold and warm combinations (hemp and chili oil, warm soy sauce and pickled egg), plus a variety of toppings (grated radish, Japanese parsley, meyer lemon, cod roe...). Shimokitazawa (a.k.a. Shimokita) This young neighborhood is effortlessly cool, and exudes a laid-back bohemian vibe. Here is where to go for some of Tokyo’s best vintage shopping, paired with a delightful café culture. What to do in Shimokitazawa Vintage shop at New York Joe Exchange, a former public bath house, and hunt for records at Pianola Records , whose eclectic selection of musical gems awaits. Check out the work of newly emerging artists at Gallery Hana , and the various restaurants, cafés and shops at the trendy Mikan Shimokita and Reload complexes. Where to eat in Shimokitazawa I love Andon for masterful rice balls, oden (one-pot soups), porridge and desserts in a cool, local setting. Head to Shirubee, a welcoming izakaya, for local pub vibes, and Curry Spice Gelateria KALPASI for comforting, colorful meals topped off with incredible homemade gelato in creative flavors (chocolate with sichuan pepper, masala chai, cumin…). Ginza Ginza is one of Tokyo’s most glamorous, high-end neighborhoods. The area is filled with luxe department stores that align with Ginza’s overall elegant vibe. In keeping with that theme, you’ll also find lots of high-end dining here: Michelin Stars and gourmet restaurants abound. Image courtesy of Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo Where to stay in Ginza Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo : Playful, centrally located and filled with art. When you book with me, you'll benefit from Hyatt Privé preferred partner perks, including a welcome amenity, daily breakfast for two, an upgrade & early check-in. What to do in Ginza Experience the art of Kabuki — traditional Japanese drama where highly skilled actors sing and dance in elaborate costumes and make-up — at the Kabukiza Theatre . Peruse Ginza’s numerous world-class art museums, including the Shiseido Gallery , for contemporary art and dynamic exhibitions, and Ginza Maison Hermès , for a luxe, exceptionally chic art-gallery/movie-theater/high-end-shopping moment. Where to eat in Ginza Don’t miss the homemade sweets, tea curation and tea salon at the beautiful Higashiya Ginza , whose interior is a study in Japanese understated luxury. Also impressive is the elevated Japanese tasting menu at the two-Michelin-Star Ginza Kojyu , and the signature shabu-shabu at the dimly lit Ginza Shabuki, where you and your fellow diners will savor a set or all-you-can-eat meal in a private setting. Hakkoku is a must for elevated sushi, while Star Bar is a world-renowned, swanky bar that uses three types of ice among its expertly crafted drinks. Nihonbashi This centrally located, sleek business district is named after its historic bridge (Nihonbashi means “Japan bridge”), which served as the starting point for Japan’s highway network since the early 17th century. A dynamic blend of history (historic department stores, artisanal shops, shrines) and the new (skyscrapers, shops, modern architecture) make this neighborhood unique. Image courtesy of Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo Where to stay in Nihonbashi Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo : Sleek, sophisticated and very stylish, with a must-visit spa to boot. When you book Mandarin Oriental with me, you'll enjoy exclusive Fan Club preferred partner amenities. I'll be pleased to give you more details. What to do in Nihonbashi Visit Japan’s oldest department store, Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, which, in the early 17th century, originally opened as a kimono store. Browse the impressive collection of Japanese art at the Mitsui Memorial Museum of Art , or visit the unique Tako no Hakubutsukan (Kite Museum), where you’ll encounter a private collection of kites, both modern and traditional. Where to eat in Nihonbashi Savor innovative dishes at the plant-filled hipster hangout Caveman , as well as French-influenced Japanese fare at the chic Neki. There’s always a line at Kaisendon Tsujihan Nihonbashi , and for good reason: their seafood bowls are the best of the best. Mandarin Oriental's Pizza Bar on 38th serves delicious pies prioritizing organic ingredients (with a stellar view, of course), while Sense, on the 37th floor, serves elevated Cantonese fare. In town, the beautiful Heichan offers a seasonally driven, multi-course tasting menu, while the airy Parklet Bakery makes the best naturally leavened breads, pastries and satisfying bites. To round out the perfect Tokyo evening, grab a nightcap at the intimate Bar High Five , where signature creative cocktails feature ingredients like homemade matcha bitters, seasonal fruits or green tea liqueur. Minato & Roppongi Minato is a bustling central hub, home to the famed Tokyo Tower, a red-and-white structure that resembles the Eiffel Tower. Within Minato, you’ll find Roppongi, a sophisticated neighborhood generally considered one of — if not the — best nightlife hubs in Tokyo. It’s also home to several of the city’s best art museums. Despite Roppongi’s high-end reputation, however, its culinary scene offers something for everyone, and for every budget. Image courtesy of Janu Tokyo Where to stay in Minato & Roppongi Janu Tokyo : Aman’s playful, family-friendly, hot-off-the-press little sister in the nearby Azabudai Hills business development. Book with me to receive $100 food / beverage credit, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. The Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon : A youthful, chic hotel with an eye for modern design, bringing some color to an otherwise business-focused district of Minato. And when you book with me, you'll receive $100 hotel credit, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. Park Hotel Tokyo : A celebration of contemporary Japanese art. Book with me to unlock ¥2,600 food / beverage credit, a complimentary welcome drink, an upgrade and late check-out. Grand Hyatt Tokyo : Japanese design and spacious rooms directly connected to the Roppongi Hills development. VIP Hyatt Privé perks include $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. Conrad Tokyo : Modern and stylish, with sweeping city views. Book with me to snag Hilton Impresario partner perks including $100 hotel credit, breakfast daily and an upgrade. Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills : A clean Japanese aesthetic with a contemporary twist, plus a collection of Japanese art throughout. Fora partner perks include $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. What to do in Minato & Roppongi There are two major developments in Roppongi: Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown , where you’ll find a variety of restaurants, museums, shops, hotels and entertainment options, along with residential and office spaces. Highlights include the National Art Center , a glass architectural marvel that exclusively shows temporary exhibitions; the Suntory Museum of Art , which shows both ancient and modern art from several disciplines; and the Mori Art Museum , a multi-genre must with keen eye for the most of-the-moment goings on in art, architecture and design. Where to eat in Minato & Roppongi Don’t let the casual atmosphere of Butagumi fool you: the tonkatsu restaurant’s deep-fried pork is legendary. Japan does everything exceptionally well, and that includes pizza. Exhibit A: Savoy Azabu-juban, which cooks its Neapolitan pies (plus other delights) in wood-fired ovens. Exhibit B: Pizza Studio Tamaki , where wood-fired pies are made with meticulously selected ingredients. For a farm-to-table cocktail tasting menu, Gen Yamamoto is a must. Images courtesy of Conrad Tokyo Nakameguro Nakameguro might be best known as the prime location to see Japan’s famed cherry blossoms: the Meguro River, flanked by the pink-hued trees, is certainly a sight to behold during late March and early April. But the area is also worth visiting in its own right. It’s a trendy, hipster enclave that provides a welcome respite from Tokyo’s otherwise hyper-modern, frenetic vibe — which is also amazing, but Nakameguro is a nice, fun and fascinating contrast. It allows you to experience Tokyo’s more laid-back side. What to do in Nakameguro Browse the curated selection of books, gifts, magazines and stationery at the Nakameguro Tsutaya Bookstore . Relax in the rooftop Meguro Sky Garden. Explore the many shops and restaurants of Kokashita, a sub-train-track shopping arcade. Where to eat in Nakameguro Onibus Coffee Roasters ’s Nakameguro location is low-key, high-quality and a master of perfectly executed simplicity. And while it's not technically within the smaller Nakameguro, Mark's Tokyo , in the larger Meguro neighborhood, serves a mouth-watering combination of locally sourced Japanese and Italian fare in a welcoming, chic setting. Akihabara Anime enthusiasts, rejoice. Akihabara is the place to go to surround yourself with all things related to Japanese subcultures. Anime is pervasive, and a slate of arcades and electronics stores give the area a lively, fun and playful vibe. And although it’s not in Akihabara, the Ghibli Museum , in Mitaka, is very much worth a visit. Even if you've never seen Spirited Away or other Studio Ghibli films, the museum is a special delight, sure to be among your trip highlights. Pro tip: get tickets in advance. What to do in Akihabara Peruse the numerous electronics and games stores. Read comics, watch movies, access the internet and people watch at the area’s 24-hour manga cafés. Where to eat in Akihabara Play the food game by ear and head into any one of the numerous manga cafés, ramen stands and themed cafés. One fun option is the Micro Tea Cup Café , a brightly lit spot with lots of pink and puppies. Make reservations in advance. Tsukiji Perhaps the biggest reason to visit this neighborhood is for its famous Tsukiji Outer Market. (The inner market relocated to a different neighborhood in 2018.) Get up early, and head to the market for breakfast. Sushi, fish and seafood are the name of the game here, but there are tons of stands and restaurants catering to the less fish-inclined among us. The stalls and bustling energy of the outer market have an air of nostalgia, calling to mind some of Tokyo’s charm from past eras. After a morning spent sampling all the goods, relax in one of the pleasant parks nearby. What to do in Tsukiji There’s the fish market, of course, but don’t miss the Buddhist Tsukiji Hongan-ji Temple, whose dynamic architecture takes inspiration from different cultures and traditions around the world. Where to eat in Tsukiji For top-tier sushi at the neighborhood’s Outer Market, head to Tsukiji Itadori Bekkan, but you really can’t go wrong with any of the gastronomic stalls and restaurants here. And remember: don’t let size deceive you. The best places to eat in Tokyo, especially in Tsukiji, are often the unassuming holes-in-the-wall. Chiyoda & Otemachi Otemachi, located in Tokyo’s most ancient region, is a new business district located within Tokyo’s Chiyoda neighborhood. Otemachi is one of several “cities within a city” that have popped up in recent years. It’s ultra-modern, home to some of the city’s most luxurious hotels, but it nonetheless respects the history of its surroundings. Images courtesy of HOSHINOYA Tokyo Where to stay in Chiyoda & Otemachi Aman Tokyo : The brand’s signature minimalism, appealing geometry and heightened luxury feel right at home in Japan’s capital. And when you book with me, you'll receive $100 hotel credit, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. Four Seasons Hotel Otemachi : A brand new, delightful stay with a clean Japanese aesthetic and a fantastic, warm staff. When you book Four Seasons with me, you'll enjoy exclusive Four Seasons Preferred Partner amenities. I'll be pleased to give you more details. Bulgari Hotel Tokyo : A taste of Italy in central Tokyo. Palace Hotel Tokyo : Nature motifs, stellar views and one of the best hotel welcomes you’ll experience. Fora partner perks include $100 food / beverage credit, breakfast daily, an upgrade and extended check-in/out. HOSHINOYA Tokyo : A classic ryokan meets modern urbanism. Book with me to receive VIP PenClub perks, including $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, breakfast daily, a guaranteed upgrade at time of booking and check-in/out anytime (as early as 6am and as late as 10pm). Image courtesy of Four Seasons Hotel Otemachi What to do in Chiyoda & Otemachi Stroll around the perimeter of the Imperial Palace, whose gardens and moat make for an especially pleasant walk, and people watch in the palace’s accompanying park. Search for treasures at the outdoor Oedo Antique Market , which operates every first and third Sunday of the month. Where to eat in Chiyoda & Otemachi Start the day off with single-origin brew at the hip, aesthetically pleasing Glitch Coffee Roasters . The evening calls for a taste of fine dining. Family-style Italian food is prepared in an open kitchen at the elegant Pigneto, in the new Four Seasons. On a clear day, you’ll dine with views of Mt. Fuji. Another Four Seasons must is the Michelin-Starred est, where local Japanese ingredients are treated to refined French technique. Out in town, try Sumibi Yakiniku Nakahara for charcoal-grilled meats prepared tableside. This may be information overload, but that's where I come in. Above is just a taste of all that Tokyo offers. Connect with me for a tailored trip. I'll work to understand your vibe and what you're after, and design your dream Tokyo getaway, complete with VIP perks and priority status at the city's best hotels. I was an exchange student in Japan and have visited several times.

- California Coast Road Trip Guide
A perfect road trip requires great views and even better stops along the way. Driving down the California coast checks both boxes; it’s difficult to think of a better road trip route in the U.S. There are many ways to go about this, but the following route is a tried-and-true favorite. Start in Los Angeles. From there, you’ll make your way up to Santa Barbara, through Big Sur and Carmel, then San Francisco and end in Mendocino. The best part is that the route offers a little bit of everything: big cities and coastal villages, natural scenery and urban jungles, rustic escapes and ritzy getaways. You can certainly extend your trip. For example, start further south in San Diego. Or, take a detour to Napa Valley. Below is a sampling of places to stay, things to do and where to eat on your road trip. This by no means is an exhaustive list, and the best part about road trips is that you get to go at your own pace. You can stop here, skip that, linger there. You are in control. When you connect with me, I’ll provide a more tailored itinerary complete with suggestions specific to your preferences. But in the meantime, consider the below a little travel inspiration to get the creative juices flowing. Need to know: Airports : Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Transportation : Rent whichever car your heart desires. I can help you book this. Best time to visit : The beauty of California is that virtually any time of year brings great weather. In Northern California, it does get a bit wetter and chillier in the winter, but spring and early summer, as well as fall, are particularly lovely. No matter the season, layers are always a good idea (for example, even in the summer, temperatures drop at nighttime in the desert climates). Ideal length of stay : At a minimum, four to six days, depending on how long or far you want to go. A week is more the sweet spot: make sure you leave time for spontaneity. Now is not the time to rush. Dress code : Comfy car clothes (if you’re feeling fancy, throw in an ascot), linen overalls with Birkenstocks, ample hiking gear and some light layers for anywhere other than Southern California. Los Angeles & Santa Monica LA and the neighboring Santa Monica offer something for everyone. There are beaches, of course, as well as Santa Monica’s whimsical pier. There are Michelin-Starred restaurants, local gems, breezy cafés and food trucks representing an impressive array of cultures. The shopping is top-notch, as is the nightlife. (And don't miss Venice's casual sister restaurant Gjelina , for market-driven cuisine served morning 'til night.) Santa Barbara The drive from LA to Santa Barbara, on a decent travel day, can take just under two hours (but always allow an LA-traffic buffer). Santa Barbara offers the best of both worlds: mountains and beach. Nature lovers will be especially happy here. The natural landscape is stunning (and perfect for hikes). - Guide to Central & West London
Images courtesy of The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, London London never gets old. The city’s charming neighborhoods, cobblestone streets, world-class museums, multicultural dynamism and electric culinary scene are just a few reasons to visit England’s capital. You’ll likely be spending most of your time in Central and West London, where you’ll find the city’s most popular attractions, like Hyde Park, Piccadilly Circus and Big Ben. These areas are especially great if you're a London first-timer, or if you want to check off the city's greatest hits from your bucket list. But Central and West London are also home to posh neighborhoods, each with their own distinctive feel. Unsurprisingly, you’ll also find many of the city’s best hotels here, where glamor (or rather, glamour) and luxury reign. Witness the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, don your chicest ensemble for afternoon tea, rent a paddle boat on Hyde Park's Serpentine Lake, visit the city's world-class museums — immersive activities abound. But you should also budget ample time for wandering and serendipity, as London is full of hidden gems. There's a lot to this worldly city. Luckily, I've done all the research so you can maximize your London vacation. Below is just a taste of what London has to offer, but when you connect with me, I'll craft an itinerary tailored specifically to your travel style and preferences — and budget of course. London can be pricey, but with the right planning and expertise, the city opens up. Ready to head across the pond? Connect with me, and I'll design your dream London vacation. Need to know in London: Currency: £, British pound sterling (GBP) Language: English Airports : Heathrow Airport (LHR), London Gatwick (LGW), London Stansted Airport (STN) Public transportation: the Tube, London’s equivalent of the subway Private transportation: hackney carriages, the famed black taxis, whose drivers are required to know the city like the back of their hand; in fact, to become a carriage driver, one must pass what is considered to be one of the world's most difficult tests, taken after years of intense study memorizing London's 25,000 streets and landmarks (!) Best time to visit: April, May & June — and if you don’t mind the cold, the holidays are particularly magical Ideal length of stay: 3-4 days is ideal for a stopover, perhaps as an add-on to a lengthier trip. However, if you want time for all the major attractions, 5-7 days is the sweet spot Signature dishes : fish & chips, English brekkie, curry, Sunday roast dinner, shepherd's pie Dress code: posh and preppy, and bring a raincoat Holborn & Bloomsbury Holborn and Bloomsbury are ideal for the culturally curious, academic-minded traveler (the latter is home to University College London, after all).
